As you will quickly learn, prices are not
"fixed" in Yemen. Everything may be bargained for. Our students
and teachers find it hard to spend more than $150 a month on
their needs.
There's nowhere in
Yemen that accepts
credit cards. Traveler's checks are accepted, but you get an
unfavorable rate of exchange. It's much easier to bring cash.
There's a safe available for you to store your valuables in. The
exchange rate is approximately 183 Rials to 1 USD (as of May
2003). You may also set up a bank account very easily.
